Hanging out with myself ist eine Klanginstallation mit einem einzelnen Holzstuhl und einem Lautsprecher, über den Audioaufnahmen der Masturbation der Künstlerin wiedergegeben werden. Zu hören sind Atem, Stille, körperliche Bewegungen sowie Umgebungs- und Straßengeräusche.
Die Arbeit entwickelt sich weniger als erotisches Szenario denn als ruhige, atmosphärische Situation. Sie verhandelt Zustände von Alleinsein, Präsenz und Selbstbezug und öffnet einen Raum, in dem Intimität als Teil alltäglicher Wahrnehmung erfahrbar wird. Tabuisierte Aspekte von Lust, Geschlecht und Körperlichkeit werden gezeigt und in einer leisen, verkörperten Form des Daseins thematisiert.
WER IST CHRISTINE BÖRSCH-SUPAN?
Christine Börsch-Supan, geboren 1987, schafft ephemere Installationen im Landschafts- und Stadtraum sowie Klangperformances und Musik für Tanztheater. Ihre Arbeiten wurden unter anderem im Hellerau European Center of the Arts, im Kampnagel Hamburg und an der Bayerischen Staatsoper München gezeigt. Sie lebt und arbeitet in Berlin.

Hanging out with myself is a sound installation centered around a solitary wooden chair and speaker playing audio recordings of the artist’s own masturbation. The sounds include breath, silence, bodily movement, ambient voices, and street noise. Rather than erotic, the work unfolds like a landscape: a porous, personal atmosphere that blurs the line between solitude, presence, and self- observation. The listener is invited into a shared yet unrepeatable moment of quiet embodiment, where taboos around pleasure, gender, and bodily function gently dissolve into ambient presence.

Christine Börsch-Supan, born 1987, creates ephemeral installations in landscape and urban spaces, as well as sound performances and music for dance theater. Her work has been shown i.a. at Hellerau European Center Of The Arts, Kampnagel Hamburg and Bayerische Staatsoper Munich. She lives and works in Berlin.
