Neue und wiederverwendete Textilien und Kurzwaren
Die drei großen figurativen Textilarbeiten von Balkon Trio sind von Figuren aus Jean Genets Theaterstück “Der Balkon” aus dem Jahr 1956 inspiriert. Das Stück spielt in einer namenlosen Stadt, in der auf den Straßen ein revolutionärer Aufstand tobt. Der Großteil der Handlung entfaltet sich in einem Bordell, das als Mikrokosmos des bedrohten Establishments dient. Die Arbeiten setzen den Wandel in Wolfs textiler Praxis von der Abstraktion zur Figuration fort. Sie untersuchen, was das Schneiden, Zerreißen, Nähen und Schichten von Stofftextilien für Akte der Darstellung bedeutet. Die Umwandlung von Material in Bild steht für die Themen Schauspielerei, Unwirklichkeit und die Erotik der Macht, die das Balkon Trio selbst prägt.

Sie hat ihre Arbeiten unter anderem im Kunstmuseum Basel, im KW Institute of Contemporary Art, in der Schirn Kunsthalle und auf der „The National: New Australian Art Biennial“ gezeigt.

The three large figurative textile works of Balkon Trio are inspired by figures from Jean Genet's 1956 play “The Balcony”. Set in an unnamed city that is experiencing a revolutionary uprising in the streets; most of the action takes place in an upmarket brothel that functions as a microcosm of the regime of the establishment under threat outside. The works continue the shift in Wolf's textile practice from abstraction to figuration, wherein she is exploring what it means to cut, rip, stitch, and layer fabric textiles means for acts of representation. This manipulation of material into image serves as an analogy for the themes of play-acting, unreality, and the erotics of power that inform the Balkon Trio itself.
